New construction homes in the Galesburg area get handed over with one big problem - the builder fills the yard with sandy dirt and calls it done. No topsoil, no grass, nothing to work with. That's exactly what we were dealing with here.

Before we could lay a single roll of sod, we had to fix the foundation. We brought in fresh topsoil and regraded both the front and back yards to give the sod something worth growing in. Sandy fill dirt holds almost no moisture and drains nutrients right out. Skipping this step is the reason so many new-build lawns fail in the first season.

Once the soil was down and graded out, we got to work laying sod across the full property - front yard, side yards, and the entire back. We used a Bobcat T66 to move material efficiently and kept the crew hands-on to make sure every seam was tight and every edge was clean against the concrete.

After the sod was down, we got water on it right away. Fresh sod needs consistent moisture to root properly, especially in the first couple of weeks. Getting that watering dialed in right after installation is just as important as everything that came before it.

End result - a house that actually looks like someone lives there. No more bare dirt patches, no more mud tracked inside. Just clean, green grass covering the whole property the right way.
